From Cocoon forth a Butterfly by Emily Dickinson
From Cocoon forth a Butterfly
As Lady from her Door
Emerged—a Summer Afternoon—
Repairing Everywhere—
Without Design—that I could trace
Except to stray abroad
On Miscellaneous Enterprise
The Clovers—understood—
Her pretty Parasol be seen
Contracting in a Field
Where Men made Hay—
Then struggling hard
With an opposing Cloud—
Where Parties—Phantom as Herself—
To Nowhere—seemed to go
In purposeless Circumference—
As ’twere a Tropic Show—
And notwithstanding Bee—that worked—
And Flower—that zealous blew—
This Audience of Idleness
Disdained them, from the Sky—
Till Sundown crept—a steady Tide—
And Men that made the Hay—
And Afternoon—and Butterfly—
Extinguished—in the Sea—

Just when I’m feeling so proud of the butterfly pictures I took yesterday evening, up pops your far-superior butterfly photo to humble me. I guess it’s good to be brought down a peg or two now and then. Ha ha Excellent photo!

I just didn’t get the clarity you did, though the butterfly was amazingly cooperative and let me put the camera about two inches from it. ha ha Do you use a special lens or any special lighting for macro shooting?

I do use a macro lens, which really helps with the clarity. No special lighting though, just natural light.

Me too, except my camera and lenses are not very powerful. No way could I get as pretty shots as you do! 🙂
